FAQ

Is it safe to go on a jeep ride near Mt. Batur at this time?
Yes. We have cancelled all trips to Mt. Agung and other activities within 12 kilometres of that volcano, but a jeep ride near Mt. Batur is still safe and well outside the evacuation area.
Can we camp on Mount Batur?
Yes. Camping on Batur is another great experience and we have trekking packages especially for those who want to camp overnight. Please go to our Batur Camping page here or contact us at trekkingexploration@gmail.com.
Can you guarantee that I see the sunrise?
Unfortunately, because the weather is so unpredictable, we cannot guarantee that you will see the sunrise. The good news is that guests overwhelmingly love this trek, regardless. The beauty of the forest, crater and lava valley makes this a 5-star trip, even on cloudy days.
What happens if I get hurt?
Though we have the highest safety standards of any guides on Mount Batur, sometimes accidents do occur. In the case of evacuation or other serious injury, the local rescue team will be immediately notified to respond to the emergency. The injured person will be cared for and taken to a hospital if necessary. Our guides are trained to notify family or friends of the injured person as soon as possible and to ensure all steps are taken to get them treated quickly and safely.
Will there be a lot of other tourists?
Because a trip to Mount Batur is such a wonderful experience, many visitors to Bali have it on their to-do list. This can cause there to be a few more tourists than expected, but the guides manage the groups well and Bali Trekking Exploration does not join with any other tourist parties. You will be guided along the most enjoyable trail, whether that means better scenery or fewer crowds. Our Batur guides are local and experienced. We know crowds can be a concern so we do our best to manage the situation.
What if I’m afraid of heights?
Visiting volcanoes is not recommended for those who have a serious fear of high places. Even though Mount Batur is not so high in respect to other mountains in Bali, it is 1717 meters above sea level. Please keep this in mind before you decide to book your trip. As always, we are happy to answer any questions you have. Please contact us here for more information.
Is Mount Batur an active volcano?
Yes. The last eruption was in 1999-2000. International scientists study the volcano so it is highly unlikely that an eruption would occur without warning.
